NFL teams split $7.2 billion in shared revenue

Greatness tends to be rewarded and the Green Bay Packers confirmed that statement by inducting their former standout quarterback into the team’s Hall of Fame.

The NFL made $7.24 billion in national revenue last season, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, meaning each team will take in $226.4 million as part of the league’s revenue sharing program.

Green Bay brought in $42.7 million in revenue and $29.2 million in income last season.

Contrary to earlier reports that Green Bay is expected to play Jacksonville at London’s Wembley Stadium, Jaguars owner Shad Khan and Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy are fighting to keep the matchup in Jacksonville. “Really for three main reasons – the continued strong performance by the team on the field, great fan support that we receive off the field, and then the continued very strong popularity of the NFL nationally”. If another Packers legend has his way, Favre’s emotional honoring won’t be the only one held at Lambeau in the near future.

In late January 2015, Cherry Starr, Bart’s wife, indicated that her husband had been making a “very, very slow recovery” after having two strokes, four seizures and a heart attack, so the revelation from Bart Jr. that his father’s health is improving is likely very welcome news for the Packer faithful. The Packers did not disclose the exact amount from television money.

Favre also talked about his final meetings with head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson, and how the relationship between himself and Packers management deteriorated. “It’s just seeing some old faces and to do it in Green Bay would be awesome”.

Murphy said the licensing agreement was reached “in the last few weeks”.

The National Football League has played at least one regular-season game in London each year since 2007, when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins, who were the designated home team, 13-10 in front of 81.176 at Wembley Stadium.

Professional football remains the most popular sport in the country.

But Murphy said the Packers continue to look at other ways to grow revenue because “we don’t want to do it all on the backs of season-ticket holders”.

Murphy said the $55 million renovation of suites and club seats will include windows that open, full-size refrigerators, better concessions equipment and flow, smart TVs and new furniture. “It was kind of weird because I had been here for a couple of hours and just walked off of Lambeau”, Favre said before the ceremony. Other teams contend that with a waiting list of 115,000, the Packers can charge more for their games.
