NFL Texans vs. Dolphins Week 7 Picks & Predictions

“I played with him for four years, so I understand his ability and what he brings to their team”. While our Net Expected Points (NEP) metrics do not measure the performance of coaches, it is clear that this team is different with Dan Campbell running the show instead of Philbin. Last week Bobby, a former Memphis standout the Dolphins selected in the fifth-round, replaced Brice and allowed two catches for 37 yards in his 40 snaps against the Titans.

It’s been a dream start to the Dan Campbell era in Miami. When coach Philbin was sacked, Campbell became the leading candidate because the players claimed they respected and looked up to him more than anyone else on the coaching staff.

So far, the move has paid off as the Dolphins earned a huge victory this past weekend against the Tennessee Titans. Coach Campbell’s youth and energy have already made a huge impression on the team and media.

“The challenge now is for these guys to not start patting themselves on the back”, Campbell said.

Despite missing Houston’s first three games as he was recovering from groin surgery, Foster is still considered one of the best running backs in the NFL. Below are five things to watch today when the Dolphins and Texans take the field.

Miller finally got the number of carries he wanted, running 19 times for 113 yards and a touchdown. Like we saw last week, the Dolphins, with the right direction, can certainly run the football. Albert can be late out of his stance at times and and he has a propensity to turn and chase speedier pass rushers as opposed to staying square and keeping his body in front of them. Last year, Tannehill’s Success Rate of 50.71% ranked seventh among 37 passers with at least 37 drop backs despite posting a 16th-ranked Passing NEP (46.72).

The Falcons, off their first loss, with a long week, are in Tennessee to play the Titans who haven’t won since Marcus Mariota’s Week 1 coming-out party against the Bucs. The Texans are a good, not great run defense. In the back end, safety Reshad Jones and corner Brent Grimes have continued to make plays combining for three interceptions, with one of those going back for a touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins look for their first home victory that would put them at a. 500 record. Texans lead series, 7-0.

Arian Foster (23) and the Texans were all smiles during the fourth… While the rushing metrics remained about even in this game, the Dolphins posted a -10.08 Adjusted Defensive NEP and a -16.09 Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP, vaulting them from the worst pass defense in the National Football League to 19th.

For the Dolphins, the biggest thing for them is forming an identity and continuity. Miami must again use a lot of misdirection runs and get the ball out of Tannehill’s arm quickly in order to reduce J.J. Watt’s impact and destructiveness. Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner are solid run blockers but the pass protection needs improvement.
