NHS choir pips Justin Bieber to secure Christmas number one spot
As Christmas Day falls on a Friday in 2015, the Christmas number one will be discovered today (Friday, December 25) and the race is on between Justin Bieber and the NHS Choir.

The Lewisham and Greenwich choir said they were “absolutely overwhelmed” that their song, A Bridge Over You, had pipped Bieber’s track, Love Yourself.
The choir, which features physiotherapists, porters and administrators as well as doctors and nurses, were runners up on Gareth Malone’s BBC Two show Sing While You Work in 2012.
During his Twitter campaign to get the choir to the top of the chart, Bieber told his 72million followers: ‘I’m hearing this UK Christmas race is close… but the NHS Choir single is for charity.
The NHS Choir outsold Bieber by three copies to one, in the download market.
‘It’s a brilliant celebration for the NHS across the country so well done and thank you everyone for downloading and streaming.
Bieber, who now holds the number one spot with his single “Love Yourself” has another two songs in The Official UK Top 40 anyway.
Justin Bieber is putting his heart ahead of the chart. “So we have to send him a massive “thank you”.
With last year’s Christmas Number One – from X Factor victor Ben Haenow – having notched up 214,000 combined sales, 662 is a very narrow lead.
But barring a last-minute surge, this year’s X Factor victor Louisa Johnson is unlikely to have a look-in for the Christmas Number One.
Proceeds from the NHS choir’s single will go to health charities including Carers UK and Mind.
Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company said: “What a fantastic result for the NHS Choir to claim the 2015 Christmas Number 1. There couldn’t be a more deserving group of winners”.

Adele, meanwhile, has scored the biggest-selling album of Christmas week for 2015.
