NI fans enjoy first Star Wars screenings
The man who showed it was possible to reboot an established franchise with his “Star Trek” movies is helping ring in a new era of “Star Wars” with “The Force Awakens”. Following Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be Alejandro González Iñárritu’s gritty drama The Revenant (opening here Jan 7), where Gleeson will be starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. As a terminal Star Wars fan, I implored my coworkers to try and find a Star Wars newbie in the wild (or at least the friendly confines of our office). She said: “I was really astounded by how extraordinary it looked”. What is it like to write something knowing that thousands of people will do everything they can to avoid reading what you’ve written for fear of spoilers?
“What we are counting on is that this will be a repeat-view movie and from what I’ve seen Disney has the goods”.
After the film: I’m still awake, so that’s a good endorsement.
