Niantic CEO Says He Wants To See Pokémon GO In 200 Regions

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game where you travel around your city, country or even the world searching for wild Pokemon to catch, level up and then use to fight.

German police say they’ve arrested an 18-year-old man who was wanted for evading a prison sentence after he ventured out to play the newly launched “Pokemon Go” smartphone game with friends. Nintendo and Niantic have a few microtransactions built into Pokemon Go, allowing players to jump ahead of others by buying Pokecoins. As a player, you have to capture portals for your team around the city by visiting them.

Pokemon Go’s battle system needs a serious revamp.

It is the latest game from the popular Pokemon franchise launched by video game giant Nintendo in 1995.

And it’s even more popular than other mega-apps such as Candy Crush and Draw Something.

It took matching Niantic’s game with Pokemon characters to deliver the experience that’s gripping so many people: Cautious Japanese might have squelched such a new concept, focusing on risks from such as accidents or the reported use of the game to lure potential robbery victims. This is a role playing game where you have to build buildings and defend them.

The only thing I have been writing about this past week is Pokemon GO. Here are some other games which are location based.

Meanwhile, several Chinese e-commerce websites like Taobao (local equivalent of eBay) are selling user codes and passwords for the Australian Apple store, so Pokemon fans in China can install the game on their smartphones.

The church’s minister Eddie McKenna said: “I think there have been a number of people outside the church but I quickly realised that they were playing Pokemon Go”. And the more information a retailer has on you, the user, the easier it will be for them to tailor those offerings within the game.

The location-aware smartphone game gives digital incentives like “Pokeballs” as rewards for visiting real places, known as “Pokestops” and “Gyms”.
