Developer Niantic Labs has published a blog post explaining why it shut down various Pokemon Go tracking sites.

Players are now very upset as there is no longer a way to track Pokemon in the game; the main gameplay aspect of the game is supposed to be tracking.

A Pokemon Go player in the OH area claimed to have acquired the game’s first legendary Pokemon, Articuno, which has not yet officially been released in the game. But now, Niantic has removed Nearby from the game and has blocked access to many third-party apps including PokeVision.

However, the feature broke soon after the game was launched, so Niantic made a decision to disable the feature as part of its July 31 update.

“The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet company’s underlying product goals”, they stated, adding that they would keep users posted as they strive to improve this aspect.

In a video posted on Reddit, you see a gym leader in the game has placed their Pokemon as the one to beat in order to take over the gym. For now, all we can do it wait for Niantic to redeem themselves. We were delayed in doing that due to aggressive efforts by third parties to access our servers outside of the Pokémon GO game client and our terms of service.

“We have been hearing the feedback loud and clear about the removal of the Battery Saver mode on iOS devices”, it said on the official Pokemon Go Facebook page.

Do you think Pokemon Go’s makers should pay up?
