Here’s the forecast for Thanksgiving Day.

THANKSGIVNG DAY THURSDAY: Skies will be partly cloudy with a pleasantly cool high temperature of 62 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be nice, warm and breezy days on the south plains, but don’t let that fool you, because winter is lurking just the other side of Thanksgiving. Low temperatures should be in the upper 50s and high temperatures should be around 70. Friday will be soggy with highs in the middle and upper 50s.

This is Iron Bowl weekend and right now I’d plan for at least some rain and mostly cloudy skies.

Little precipitation is expected today, with rain possibly mixed with freezing rain not forecast until after 10 p.m. Little or no ice accumulation is expected, however, the Weather Service said today. Clouds also returned to our area, but rain chances will likely hold off until Wednesday.

“Rain will slowly transition to snow in the west and northwestern counties (of Iowa) during the late morning or early afternoon hours”, said KCCI-TV.

Temperatures and snowflakes will fall Tuesday night with a low of about 20 and up to two inches of accumulation possible.

After a dry weekend across most of the Arklatex, we’ll see the potential for more heavy rain late this week and this weekend along with the return of above normal temperatures.

A cold front will move through between Thursday night and Friday morning, which will drop the temperature into the 30s for Friday and Saturday.

By Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning, snow could dust levels as low as 2,500 to 3,000 feet. A band of moderate rain is expected from eastern Texas to southern Missouri with lighter rain farther north Saturday. These numbers could change once the storm system forms and the forecast models get a better idea of all the dynamics associated with it.
