Whether you’re a literary nerd or someone who was forced to read old books in high school, you’re likely familiar with the work of JD Salinger.

Upon the biography’s release, the New York Times called it “evocative”, but added that it’s “flawed”-“It draws liberally from Salinger’s letters and a memoir by his daughter, Margaret, is flawed by a tendency to assume direct correspondences between the author’s life and work”.

Hoult reminds me of my fuzzy mental portrait of Catcher in the Rye’s protagonist, Holden Caulfield, with lips primed to pout or impishly grin, and long, delicate eyes that would crease softly as they narrowed in suspicion.

“‘The Catcher in the Rye’ is a classic coming-of-age story which continues to make a significant impression six generations later”, said Alex Walton of Bloom.

Black Label Media is backing the film, with the distribution rights set to be touted at the Toronto worldwide Film Festival, which kicks off next week.

Strong is known best for creating the hit FOX show “Empire”, in which he has written and directed multiple episodes of the ratings and pop culture phenomenon. He has written the screenplays for The Butler, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2 and HBO Films’ Recount and Game Change.

Hoult was most recently seen in Mad Max: Fury Road and Dark Places, both with Charlize Theron.

He also stars in the upcoming sci-fi romance “Equals” alongside Kristen Stewart, Guy Pearce and Jacki Weaver.

Hoult is also famous for having dated his X-Men co-star Jennifer Lawrence from 2011 to 2014.
