Nick Foles stopped going to Rams practices

In March, he signed a contract extension with the Eagles that seemingly provided an opportunity to cement himself as the franchise quarterback. Bradford returned to the team a couple of weeks later and is participating in team workouts.

Another key difference when comparing/contrasting these situations is that Bradford didn’t skip any voluntary OTA practices.

Foles signed a two-year, $24.5 million contract before last season that included almost $13.8 million in guarantees. The Rams had discussions during the draft about potentially trading Foles, who earned a $6 million roster bonus in April and whose $1.75 million salary for 2016 is fully guaranteed, but a deal was never consummated.

A third-string quarterback who reportedly has been staying away from voluntary OTAs. Is there even precedence for such a thing?

Nick Foles was absent from the Los Angeles Rams’ first organized team activities on Tuesday.

Nick Foles isn’t working out with the Rams. Completing 56.4 percent of his passes, he gained just 2,052 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 11 starts, posting a 4-7 record.

Where the team goes from now is really up in the air, and it only adds more spice to the Rams’ appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Because OTA’s are all considered voluntary workouts, Foles cannot be fined by the Rams for his absence; the team does have mandatory mini-camp that players are required to attend, in which, he would then be fined for if his absence continued on this offseason.

Foles’ best hope is somebody needs a backup and sees him as viable in that role, which the former third-round pick probably is in the right situation.
