But with Ramos expected to sign a new contract at Real Madrid, speculation the club will turn their attentions to alternative options in defence is growing.
Manchester United have no plans to sell Javier Hernandez, according the Daily Mail.
Otamendi was linked with a move to United earlier in the summer with the Express claiming last month that United officials had held formal talks with the players agent before they appeared to switch focus to Sergio Ramos.
Lazio are reportedly holding out for at least £21.4million, which wouldn’t be a problem for United. Premier League champions Chelsea have had a bid for the 21-year-old rejected by Everton.
Manchester City are also believed to be interested in the Argentine, but it seems that Manchester United may well be close to winning the Mancunian battle for the defender. The Cameroon worldwide will cost £10 million. Pedro is one target that has for several days looked set to arrive from Barcelona, but for the time being he remains at the Camp Nou and with his future uncertain.
