Nigel Farage Steps Down As Head of UKIP Following Successful Brexit Vote
Farage is promising he won’t change his mind – even though he’s resigned before only to reverse his decision days later.

Farage said it would not be easy to let go as he feels “part ownership of the Ukip brand” but it was the right time to leave. I came into this business because I wanted us to a self-governing nation, not to become a career politician.
Farage says that whoever is chosen to lead the country should be a “Brexit prime minister” and says that he will continue to support UKIP.
Throughout his political career, Farage has often attracted controversy.
UKIP’s seen Farage at the helm for the better part of a decade.
“With signs that the economy is set to slow drastically, there is a strong case for fiscal stimulus and measures which assure companies that the United Kingdom is an attractive place to do business”, he told AFP. This was the third time he resigned his position after similar moves in 2009 and 2015.
Who is Mr Farage, and why is this news so important?
“He has been a good party leader, as we are only really here today because of him”.
Answering questions from reporters, Farage said he hoped there would not be “weakness or, frankly, appeasement” of the European Union in the UK’s negotiations to leave.
“We find somebody inside our party who doesn’t agree with anything the party stands for, it’s a very odd state of affairs”.
Twitter users reacted to Mr Carswell’s emoji.
He added: “Tough though it’s been at times, it’s all certainly been worth it”.
Speaking at a press conference in Westminster, he said he had fulfilled his political ambitions after successfully campaigning for Brexit – Britain’s exit from European Union, the Guardian reported. “I couldn’t possibly achieve more than we managed to get in that referendum and so I feel it’s right that I now step aside”.
He said he would guard against any “appeasement” or “backsliding” by ministers implementing the result of the Brexit referendum.
The June 23 “Brexit” vote to leave the European Union has thrown both the two main political parties into disarray, with the ruling Conservatives seeking a replacement for Prime Minister David Cameron and lawmakers from the main opposition Labour Party voting to withdraw confidence in leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Media attention has focused on Home Secretary Theresa May – who opposed Brexit during the referendum campaign, but now backs it – and Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom, who made her first major speech Monday.

“An absolute priority is to bring in business people”, he added.
