Algeria have managed to hold on to the top position in Africa according to the October edition of the Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings, while Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana remain in second and third spot respectively. Tanzania are placed position 136 with South Sudan lying 144.

Former number Belgium drop down to two, with Portugal and Colombia rounding out the top five.

Germany climbed to second spot, having been third last time around, while Argentina have retained the top spot.

Chris Coleman’s Wales, who are on the brink of qualifying for the Euro 2016 finals, have climbed one place to eighth, while Brazil have slipped two places to seventh.

Austria are also celebrating their highest-ever placing at No11 after sealing early qualification for Euro 2016. Netherlands, meanwhile, drop below Switzerland and Romania to 14th as a result of their defeats to Turkey and Iceland, with Italy sliding to 17th and Scotland now back down to 40th.
