Nigeria army frees 400 Boko Haram hostages

The terrorists were arrested by troops of the 22 Brigade Garrison on Sunday as they continued the clearing of remnants of members of Boko Haram.

Abuja-Troops prosecuting the war against Boko Haram terrorists have rescued more than 1000 hostages, held captive by the group, even as soldiers apprehended four female suicide bombers, approaching military locations from Sambisa Forest following a tip-off.

Nigerian troops, on Friday April 30, discovered a “secret Boko Haram”, Improvised Explosive Device making factory in Ngala town, Borno state.

A statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel S.K. Usman, disclosed that some terrorists hiding in the villages were armed with unsafe weapons and had been terrorizing the communities, but three of them were killed, while nine, who tried to hide in foxholes and dugouts, were identified and captured alive during the military operation.

Sani Usman, said in a statement on Sunday that the insurgents were planning to carry out attacks at Wubi in the Kala Balge Local Government Area of the state when the troops staged the preventive action.

“It is heart-warming to inform the public that troops in various parts of the theatre of operation LAFIYA DOLE are doing well and their morale remain very high”, it added.

“The troops are deep into the forest to smoke out Boko Haram terrorists”, Mr. Irabor said.

He said the troops, which located the factory through intelligence they received from concerned Nigerians, also killed a number of the insurgents.
