Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-0 in global friendly in Belgium

Nigeria defeated Cameroon 3-0 in Sunday’s global friendly played at the Edmond Machtens-Stadion in Brussels, Belgium. “We all put in our best to achieve the result”, Musa said. But the coach, who was forced to play a makeshift team against Congo, believes with time Nigerians will see the team of their dream.

Oliseh, who was visibly relieved after the game, promised to continue working on the team to get the right mix.

Few minutes later, Mbia failed to deal with a backpass and Ahmed Musa took advantage by intercepting before cutting the ball back for Emmanuel Emenike, whose effort was blocked by the Cameroonian defense.

The Oliseh-Enyeama row overshadowed the clash with the Congolese and may have distracted the 10th-ranked African side. He did not retire but was rather coerced into retirement.

Meanwhile, Wilfred Oyinyere Ndidi who debuted in the game with Cameroun is excited about his Super Eagles’ appearance and he is yearning for more action if invited again.

The triumph came three days after the Super Eagles suffered a 2-0 defeat by the Democratic Republic of Congo at another Belgian venue and star goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama retired.

He alluded to the fact that rift between Coach Sunday Oliseh and his former captain, Vincent Enyeama, could have been responsible to the earlier loss.

Both countries were preparing for World Cup qualifiers during November with Egypt facing Sierra Leone or Chad and Zambia playing Sudan. “I am happy because the game will help to boost their morale ahead of their next match”, he said.

“The victory is for the team’s fans for always being there for us”.

Ndidi admitted that he learnt a lot from the other players in the team.

“I’m not under pressure as I have experienced it as a player in the past as well”.
