Nigeria move 3 places up — Federation Internationale de Football Association ranking

The Black Stars, who have 749 points, overtook the Elephants (748 points) to take the 35th place in the global ranking even though the two countries did not play any competitive matches in the month under review.

The Black Stars’ last assignment was a 2-0 away win over Mauritius in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.

The Nigerian side are expected to improve rating when hostilities begin in the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Africa’s number one team, Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia later this year.

Senegal (41), Egypt (43), Tunisia (45), Morocco (53), Cameroon (54), Congo DR (56) and Cape Verde (58) complete the top 10.

The top twenty teams in the world remain unchanged owing to a quiet month of global football – which means that Argentina remain top, followed closely by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile.

Behind them are Colombia, Germany and Chile with Euro 2016 winners Portugal ranked 6th in the world.

The next edition of the ranking will be released on September 15.
