In the Nigerian attacks, residents said twin explosions near a prayer ground in Damaturu killed two people, before a third blast moments later near a mosque that left another 11 dead.

Former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige, on Sunday said the change Nigerians expect will fully take root when individuals play their part in supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver on his campaign promises.
“President (Barack Obama) has long seen Nigeria as arguably the most important strategic country in sub-Saharan Africa”, deputy secretary of state Tony Blinken said. Later in the week, Obama travels to Kenya and Ethiopia, which face threats from Somalia-based militants.
Mr Buhari has said his priorities are strengthening the economy, which has been hit by the fall in oil prices; boosting investment; and tackling corruption. He has removed officials accused of human rights abuses.
Jiti Ogunye, a Lagos-based human rights lawyer, said he expected Buhari’s USA visit to bring a “salutary rapprochement” between the two countries.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks in either areas, but many are considering the militant group Boko Haram as the likely suspect.
Nigerian Islamic extremists killed at least 15 people in suicide bombings at open-air praying grounds Friday as people prepared to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in northeastern Damaturu, police said.
OSLO, Norway – Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik won a place on Friday to study at Oslo University from solitary confinement in prison – via prison staff, with no direct contact with professors – despite outrage at his massacre of 77 people four years ago.
The attacks also shed a light on the difficulties that the Nigerian military has been having when dealing with Boko Haram prior to President Buhari firing the leaders of the military.
Buhari, a former military head of state, has made the fight against Boko Haram one of the main planks of his administration – but more than 700 people have been killed in attacks since he came to office.
Buhari’s White House visit comes just six weeks after he met with Obama as a special guest during a meeting of the Group of Seven developed countries in Germany.

It was also gathered that the president was shocked by the amount of money quantified in several transactions cutting across several sectors of the economy, including oil and gas, finance, power, governance and infrastructural commitments, where the persons involved failed the nation, thus contributing to its current decadence. Abdullahi Muhammad Sufi, director of research and the Interfaith Mediation Center in Kaduna, northwest Nigeria, expressed discontent while speaking to VICE News.
