Also, the Buhari government has revived the Kano-Port Harcourt train services in an effort to complete the projects he inherited from the previous administration.
He said the completion and commissioning of the project was in line with his administration’s vision of bringing about the desired change to Nigerians through the development of necessary social and physical infrastructure. “Already, people are moving into the area from across the country, irrespective of religion or ethnic affiliation; it will certainly boost economic activities”, said Mustapha Alhassan, the Chairman of theRigasa Community Development Association, speaking to the ‘News Agency of Nigeria.’ The rail line marks tangible progress for the Nigerian transport sector.
“There is no thriving modern economy today that does not have a functional interlink and viral railway system”.
The modernisation phase began in 2009 with the signing of the contract for the construction of the Abuja (Idu) to Kaduna (Rigasa) rail line.
It has been commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Kaduna state Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Bello said, “We are particularly happy in the FCT for the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna rail project because this project is expected to link the ongoing Abuja Light Rail project”. We have the support of the minister of Finance, and are discussng with CCECC.
