Nigerian troops rescue 338 people held by Boko Haram
Maiduguri is the area where Boko Haram was formed about six years ago, with the avowed goal of creating a hardline Islamic state in northeastern Nigeria.

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, said the troops also recovered arms and ammunitions during the raid operation.
The raids were apparently conducted on Tuesday on the outskirts of the Sambisa Forest, a Boko Haram stronghold.
The statement also said four Boko Haram suspects on a suicide bombing mission to Gubula town in nearby Adamawa state were ambushed and killed by government troops.
Government forces said the majority of the captives were women and children.
And as a (former) commander-in- chief, I know this.
Buratai described the location of the brigade as “very important and strategic”, saying it would have “great impact toward defeating the Boko Haram group”. The troops were able to killed 30 Boko Haram terrorists. Despite this, it continues to attack soft targets such as markets and places of worship using mostly young boys and girls under the age of 17 as human bombs.
Almost 170 people have been killed this month and more than 1,420 since Buhari came to power, according to an AFP tally.
Local people are doubting the certainty of the deadline given to rout out the ruthless group as more suicide attacks had taken place in parts of Nigeria since the order was given in August.

Star Africa reported that in order to “boost morale” of the security and defence forces that have been deployed to fight the extremist group, the Cameroonian military will provide them with “advanced military equipment”.
