Night tube starts in London
Hundreds of police officers being drafted in to cope with the London Underground running 24 hours through the night and tomorrow on the Central Line has been welcomed in east London by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets. “It’s a shame I have to be driving the train and not taking advantage of it but I know it’s great for London”.

It will be a boost for tourists and shift workers, who on Friday and Saturday nights will be able to travel at any chosen hour.
Tottenham Hale is also the most in demand tube stop across the initial night tube service with property demand at 56%.
Former London Mayor Boris Johnson previously planned to launch the service in September 2015, but the plan was postponed due to a standoff with trade unions over wages and working conditions.

He said: “It’s not me making a cheap point, but the previous mayor did announce the Night Tube start date on one occasion and that wasn’t met, on a second occasion, that wasn’t met, on a third occasion, that wasn’t met, and then gave up”.
Barnardo’s has been training night workers, including TfL staff, for “more active roles” to protect youngsters from exploitation and abuse at night. It can’t be beyond the wit of a full-time mayor and TfL to make this work properly.
The Night Tube may not have the scale and investment of Crossrail, but its impact on many Londoners’ lives – and property decisions – will be big. “I’m pleased and proud that we’re here”. It is expected the Night Tube will transport about 200,000 people between now and the end of the year.
However, we’re not altogether sure if his hopes of saving London’s dying nightlife via the Night Tube scheme – which launches tonight (August 19) – are altogether founded.
The British Transport Police are providing 100 more officers to patrol 144 stations that will be open all night when the service begins.
The Night Tube was launched in the London Underground on Saturday – nearly three years since the plan was first announced. For example, if you buy a Day Travelcard at 11:00 on Friday, you can use it until 04:29 on the following Saturday.
“It’s not just for revellers”.

It’s fantastic how the Night Tube will play a vital role in showing the world that #LondonIsOpen, by boosting London’s economy by £77m a year and supporting around 2,000 permanent jobs.
