Nikki Haley showed ‘courage’ in rebutting some Republicans, White House says

Many of the GOP presidential candidates like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Chris Christie have called her.

“I have a lot of admiration for the governor”, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough told reporters at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. “I think that showed in her remarks, and I commend her on a job well done”. In her speech, Gov. Haley alluded to Donald Trump, saying, “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation”, Haley said during Tuesday’s speech.

Trump denounced the speech by Obama as words of a man who lives in a fantasyland. “It’s just wrong. It diminishes us in the eyes of the world”.

In an interview on Today, Haley confirmed her comments were directed towards Trump and others who contributed to, what she called, “irresponsible talk”. “Take it if you want, take if you don’t but I think our country would be better if you take it”.

Last week, the state took some serious steps forward, when Governor Haley signed into law, measures including, ways to provide new resources to victims, including information about services, and time off to handle their situations.

“The one that got me is when he said, ‘Ban all Muslims”, she said.

Haley was invited by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to deliver the address, though Ryan’s office said it had little input in its content.

President Barack Obama sharpened his State of the Union warning against divisive politics Wednesday, using a campaign-style rally in Nebraska to deride politicians like Republican front-runner Donald Trump who he claimed was using fear as a tool to gain votes.

Haley is “weak on illegal immigration” and “big on amnesty”, Trump said Wednesday on MSNBC.

“I’m only doing this to make America great again”.

Piyush Subhas Chandra Amrit (now “Bobby” Jindal) also hails from Indian Punjab and recently withdrew from the race for Repoublican nomination for president.

Obama also told the crowd – estimated by a fire marshal at 11,000 – that “we are far and away the strongest nation on the planet” and that it was unusual that some in the State of the Union audience last night didn’t applaud when he asserted the claim.

“I feel very strongly about illegal immigration”, he said. “She likes me more when I’m a giver of contributions than when I’m not”. ” ‘This is just something that we just learned in SC that I’m passing along”.

“Trump’s response the next day will just be, ‘Well, you heard President Obama and the Republican leadership response echo each other, they’re on the same team.’ That’s his thesis”, said conservative Rep. Dave Brat of Virginia.

It was one of many heated exchanges between a pair of candidates seeking to tap into support from voters who are angry and frustrated with Republican Party leaders as well as Democrats. “We’re friends. That’s good”, he said.
