Indian American Governor Nikki Haley is one of the contenders for Secretary of State or other cabinet positions in the Donald Trump administration, according to media reports on Wednesday.

Mrs Haley endorsed Florida Senator Marco Rubio during the Republican primary election, and later after he dropped out, threw her support behind Senator Ted Cruz – Mr Trump’s final rival before he became the party’s nominee.

McMaster tells The Associated Press he was contacted Wednesday. He was an early, high-profile endorser of Trump during the SC primary and has remained an advisor to Trump and his campaign.

Gov. Nikki Haley of SC is giddy over the prospect of having Republicans controlling Congress and the White House.

“I think (Trump) should consider her for some prominent role”, he continued, “because she is a Republican woman who is talented and has been a good governor”.

“I think that it’s a cool honor for SC that our governor would be considered for position like that”, Massey said by phone Thursday.

Third, Haley criticized Trump’s strict take on immigration in the past, objecting to his position on birthright citizenship.

For that to happen, Trump will have to navigate a Haley nomination past the white insurrection that made anyone of foreign-origin subject to a suspicious inquisition during the campaign, the treatment of Huma Abedin being an extreme example. I certainly would support Nikki Haley.

“I look forward to working with governor Walker, a trusted friend and colleague, to recruit strong candidates and build on RGA’s historic progress in the months ahead”, she said.

Earlier in the day, a close aide of Trump from SC said that Haley was being considered for a Cabinet position, including that of the Secretary of State.

Being secretary of state could, theoretically, take those prospects from bright to dazzling. Indeed, in February, Hayley even publicly stated that Trump constituted “everything a governor doesn’t want in a president”.

Haley had won the governorship of a southern state when she was only 38 years old, and further got second term four years later.

“President-elect Trump and Dr. Kissinger have known each other for years and had a great meeting”, the presidential transition team said in a statement.
