Ninja Turtles fight for box office win
Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin’s Me Before You will take the bronze medal this weekend with around $18.3 million, which is better than many forecasts expected.

The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which was a surprise hit, finished with a US$195 million domestic gross and US$493.2 million worldwide in 2014.
Me Before You tanked with critics with a 54% positive rating on RottenTomatoes, but scored an A grade with devoted audiences on CinemaScore. The $135 million production from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies comes just two years after the studios rebooted the property.
“Me Before You was a true bright spot in this weekend’s box office derby that clearly struck a chord with audiences looking for something completely different from the typical summer fare”, says Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for comScore. The opening is nearly half of the $65 million start its predecessor enjoyed in 2014, a further indication that after only two movies, audiences are already tired of this TMNT incarnation. The modestly budgeted love story based on Jojo Moyes’ best-selling novel was strong counterprogramming to the big summer releases.
“We looked at a busy marketplace and said ‘where is there a movie for older females and younger females? It’s a big win for us”.
Universal ” Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.”Though the movie was only made for around $20 million, it’s kind of a disappointment Andy Samberg’s latest comedy with his The Lonely Island mates, “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping”, only took in .6 million this weekend. Things probably won’t really pick up until June 17, when Finding Dory will swim into theaters.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at USA and Canadian theatres, according to comScore. Only in this weekend, China market contributed over 59 million dollars.
