You’ll also use Nintendo Account to log in to the company’s upcoming NX console, due to be unveiled next year.

Those who already have an established Nintendo Network ID account in Japan can sign up and combine their old account with the new Nintendo Network ID via the official website of the service. It was first detailed at an investor’s meeting in October.
Unfortunately there is no news yet on when the Nintendo Account scheme will arrive in the United Kingdom and Europe, but it’s early days and we weren’t even expecting to hear about it until early next year in conjunction with Nintendo’s next home console, now codenamed NX.
The new Nintendo Account system has gone live in Japan, giving us a chance to see what the service might offer when it comes west.

Via your Nintendo Account, you can find and purcahse your favorite software in the same way you purchase games on the Nintendo eShop. Whatever you earn will be rewarded by a voucher code sent by email, so in some ways it works similarly to the Deluxe Digital Promotion – but now across both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo Account will encompass your NNID, and link in with Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter. It’s also being reported that users will get 100¥ back for every 1,000¥ they spend in the eShop within a 24 hour period (though for purchases adding up to no more than 10,000¥), with the deal lasting until February 1, 2016.
