The new consoles are all well and good, but retro gaming is still a blast.

Nintendo’s mini NES console costs $60 and it will come with 30 classic NES games that players can choose from. However, the new version will now be called Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System.

If you see a Nintendo Entertainment System on store shelves this holiday shopping season, you haven’t entered a time machine. It will be available on November 11.

If you were a kid of the 80s and 90s who played TV games, names like Donkey Kong, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros, Pac-man and The Legend of Zelda would have you sitting up with a broad smile by now.

Nintendo announces it will bring back the classic console in a small package with the release of Mini-NES. For now, Nintendo has only confirmed a USA launch so looks like the global fans will have it wait and see if the NES Mini makes it to their shores. Players can collect an extra classic control pad for two player game sessions for just $9.99.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place”, stated Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America in a statement.

The system comes packaged with an HDMI cable, an AC adapter and one NES Classic Controller, which is patterned after the iconic design of the original NES controller.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can also be used (each sold separately). Players won’t be able to download other NES games and to play them on the mini console. The focus of the console will be on the Classic NES games from that era with games like Balloon Fight, Bubble Bobble and Excite bike part of 30 classic retro titles that will launch with the console.

What’s also different in terms of gameplay is that the days of needing to write down passwords to allow you to return to your last checkpoint are no more as each game has been coded to remember at what point in the game you last reached before you stopped playing.
