Nintendo Classic Mini is a “standalone” system and won’t get more games

Dusty cartridges are a thing of the past as thirty classic games will be pre-loaded, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Castlevania. The NES Classic Edition comes with a mini classic NES controller, which can be plugged into the console or into a Wii Remote.

Although we’re living in the age of always-online consoles, Nintendo’s mini-NES won’t connect to the internet. You will be able to plug it directly into a HD TV using the HDMI cable (which is included in the package).

Able to fit in the palm of your hand, the NES Classic Mini is much smaller than the original and will ship with a healthy roster of classic Nintendo titles.

Nintendo has just announced what is probably the most nostalgia-inducing game console ever created, as the Japanese gaming giant just showed off the NES Classic Edition, a mini replica of the firm’s hyper-popular console during the 80s.

“The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers”, he added. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can also be used (each sold separately). You can find a full list of games at the bottom of this article. The console comes with a control modeled and played like the iconic controller. Before you scream at your display, you will also get Super Mario Bros, SMB 2, and SMB3 along with Tecmo Bowl.

If you have a Wii or a WiiU, you can take advantage of the Virtual Console, but that’s a pricey proposition when you factor into the cost of the console and then the individual games.

The console arrives on November 10 in Australia and New Zealand, with a retail price of $AU 99.95.
