Nintendo delays Pokémon Go Japan launch

And Apple’s gains pale in comparison to Nintendo, which has more than doubled, as well as mobile accessory maker Zagg, which has soared 35% thanks to a favorable mention of its mophie Juice Pack Air case in a PC World story about Pokemon Go.

McDonald’s Japan is the game’s first paying sponsor, while USA game startup Niantic, Nintendo and Pokemon Co.co-developed the game.

However, this certainly will be a good first test how how well Pokemon Go’s popularity can translate into real-world increases in foot traffic and sales for retailers. Today, McDonald’s announced its partnering with Niantic Labs for a “Pokemon Go” promotion. Tune in every morning from 4am to 8am.

Nintendo stock is so desirable right now, that the company’s stock broke the record for single-day trading in Tokyo, last Friday, with over $4.5 billion in shares changing hands.

Chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga said on Thursday the government was aware that there were concerns about safety when people play Pokemon GO.

Small comfort to Japanese gamers, however, who waited in vain on Wednesday for the launch of the smash-hit mobile game amid reports that the developers behind it had hit the brakes, concerned that overwhelming demand would overload server capacity. It only says the launch will happen “soon”.

Because the game depicts a live view of where players have been directed to catch Pokémon, the worry is that geographic areas that usually would not be shown online are still captured in the game’s database, putting well-kept secret locations at risk.

A spokeswoman for Pokemon Company, which created the game along with Nintendo and Google-spinoff Niantic, declined to comment on the report, reiterating that nothing had been decided over the Japan launch date.

Industry analyst Laura Martin from Needham has said that Pokémon Go could rake in an extra $3 billion for Apple in the next 12 to 24 months, AppleInsider reported. “Pokemon Go”, a compulsive smartphone game has not been made avail… The game has officially become the “biggest” mobile game in US history, attracting just under 21 million daily active users in the country.
