Nintendo introduces tiny console with 30 classic games built in

On the same note: Does Nintendo plan to sell other NES games for the mini-NES beyond the 30 it comes preloaded with? The mini-console will come with a replica version of the original NES controller, and packed with 30 built-in games, including classics like Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3, The Legend of Zelda, Punch Out, Balloon Fight, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong, Bubble Bobble and more. If plugged into the latter, it can be used to play Virtual Console games you’ve loaded up on with the Wii or Wii U. Conversely, the Wii classic controller can be used on the new NES Classic Edition, too.

The device looks nearly exactly like the original NES, but smaller. Nintendo will have the NES Classic Edition ready for the holiday season – it’ll go on sale on November 11. To accomodate modern technology, the console comes complete with an HDMI port and an HDMI cable to hook up directly to any TV, reports Fortune. And whether it’s rediscovering an old favourite or experiencing the joy of NES for the first time, the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system should have something for all players. Redmond, Washington-based Nintendo of America says it will retail for $59.99.

The game will also come with an AC adapter and an NES Classic Controller patterned after the original controller. Players will, however, still be able to save their progress in-game on the console as each game will have “multiple suspend points”, allowing players to take a break and return to the point where they left off without entering passwords. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers”. “Both can be plugged directly into the console; however, when using two controllers, one of them must be the NES Classic Controller”.
