Nintendo “looking at things like movies in the future”

However, that sentiment is changing, as the company evolves and expands its reach within the world of entertainment. Miyamoto has recounted that they have been approached numerous times by movie makers to adapt their games to the big screen, or to at least develop videogames in tandem with other franchises, but they have seemingly refused.

Previously, during this year’s E3 2015, Miyamoto told Fortune that he believes that movies and games are quite different, stating that games are more “interactive mediums” while movies are “passive medium”, thus debunking the previous connotations that both are almost similar mediums.

Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser will be exclusively playable on Wii U, Wii and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. But he revealed that Nintendo is broadening its focus. People have been clamoring for a live-action Legend of Zelda adaptation for years and properties like Metroid are ripe for some sort of film adventure. In May, it was announced that Nintendo had signed a deal with Universal, which will ultimately see Nintendo-themed rides appear at the movie company’s chain of theme parks.

In it, the gaming giant licensed the use of such classic characters as Donkey Kong and the dog from Duck Hunt, which has baffled many critics as the script boasts little to no real understanding of gaming culture.
