Nintendo NX Release Date, Price, Specs, Features
Those with small children – a huge portion of Nintendo’s fan-base – will appreciate the new format as grubby little child paws will no longer be all over your expensive discs. Cartridges can now hold plenty of data, they’re now quicker to produce than Blu-Rays and they’re ideal foils to combat piracy with. This time it’s the work The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, and he has more sources stating that the console will use physical cartridges. Assuming it does, that naturally leads to speculation concerning whether NX cartridges would be comparable to games released on PS4 and Xbox One.
The new report highlights just how little we actually know about Nintendo’s future hardware plans just seven months before a publicly announced March 2017 release date. According to the Wall Street Journal, the system will include both a console and a mobile unit that you can use with the console or take it with you for separate use.
Another recent report claimed Nintendo is planning to introduce advanced vibration technology to the NX, as well as motion sensing similar to the Wii Remote.
Nintendo has not officially confirmed anything about the console of course.
Nintendo has yet to reveal anything official about the NX, but some suspect that the company will reveal the console around the Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off on September 15th.
We will keep you updated on new NX information as it becomes available. Cartridges might solve the problem of needing to stuff a bulky hard drive inside the NX – and carrying them around will already be familiar to owners of the 3DS.
3DS games are burned to 8GB ROM carts.
