Nintendo NX software development kits enter distribution
Nintendo is pushing forward with their as-yet-unrevealed successor to the Wii U, sending out Nintendo NX software development kits to game developers, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Nintendo said that in planning the NX it follows that the company will include growth for its iconic products with Mario in the forefront.
Specifics are thin on the ground for the NX, but we know for sure that it’s a “dedicated game system” – suggesting something similar to the Wii U and 3DS in its approach. However, although details about the new Nintendo console are still scant, developers who are interested in the new console are lining up. The console and mobile unit can be used in conjunction with one another, or the mobile unit can be taken on the road for separate use.
The most solid description given to the Nintendo NX to date is it’s going to be new gaming concept as provided directly by Japanese game maker Nintendo.
The sources also claimed industry leading processors would be deployed after the Wii U was criticised for its relative lack of power, compared to the other systems on the market. At the time the company’s former president, the sadly departed Satoru Iwata, said more would be revealed in 2016, and the company has since kept to that plan. Additionally, the 3DS has been very successful this generation, while the Wii U has lagged behind significantly. Third party support has been a problem for Nintendo since the SNES days and better support is one of the main ways they can turn their fortunes around.

The handheld part of the NX remains a rumor, since Nintendo declined to comment on anything associated with the upcoming device.
