Nintendo’s stock surges after Pokemon Go rocks iOS and Android devices
“Pokemon GO” has officially been launched in the United States, and the game has been a massive hit. In fact, the game has become the number one most downloaded free-to-use gaming app this week on the iTunes app store, and reports are also coming in that indicate that the cash shop items are moving in great abundance.

Nintendo shares were up 23 percent at 0225 GMT on Monday (10:25 p.m. EDT on Sunday) at 19,960 yen in heavy trading after earlier rising as high as 20,190 yen, their highest since November.
The article notes that the game is now the number one free app in the USA, on the iTunes app store.
Shares in Japan’s Nintendo Co surged on Friday as consumers flocked to try out its new Pokemon GO smartphone game, raising hopes that the company’s long-awaited shift into mobile gaming will pay off.
But Pokemon Go is where the money is at the moment.
A photo taken and provided by Mike Schultz shows injuries he received when he crashed his skateboard while playing Pokemon Go, an addictive new game based on cute Nintendo characters like Squirtle and Pikachu, near his home on Long Island in NY. Just days after being made available in the USA, the mobile game Pokemon Go has jumped to become the top-grossing app in the App Store. And for those of you who’ve already started your journey as a Pokemon trainer and don’t want to create a new account, don’t worry – Pikachu can also be found in the wild, as can Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Different real life, outdoor locations will house the Pokemon, and it will be up to players to literally travel around and capture them all. It’s easy to get distracted with the game and walk into oncoming traffic, accidentally walk off the road into a hazardous area, or crash into an object.
“I just wanted to be able to stop quickly if there were any Pokemons nearby to catch”, he says.

“You don’t actually have to step inside in order to gain the pokeballs”, the Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services says on its Facebook page. Given Pokémon Go’s remarkable early adoption here in the US, it seems likely that Niantic founder John Hanke’s ambition to successfully distribute a Pokémon game in regions where Nintendo hardware is typically rare will pan out.
