Nintendo shares soar as Mario leaps to mobile
One of the only surprise announcements at the new iPhone 7 launch event was a guest appearance from Nintendo so announced Super Mario Run, the first mobile game app to feature Mario ever. Super Mario Run is – you guessed it – an endless runner game but starring everyone’s beloved, plucky plumber, Mario.

We’re no closer to learning when Super Mario Run will come to Android or exactly how long we might have to wait after it arrives on iOS, but at least you won’t have to switch sides just to play that new Mario game.
It’s a simple game: Mario automatically runs to the right, and your goal is to make him hurdle enemies and small gaps in course.
“We have created Super Mario Run to be ideal for playing on your iPhone”, Miyamoto said during the event. “We could not be more honoured that Nintendo chose to bring Mario to iOS first”, added Cook.
Speaking of Niantic – CEO John Hanke also took the stage on Wednesday – announcing that Pokemon go will soon be available on the Apple watch. The second mode challenges players to compete with other players to impress Toads. Moreover, there is an additional mode which will let player create their own Mushroom Kingdom based upon their game points.
Nintendo said it would roll out the games later this year in December, however, the release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Interestingly enough you can actually play Super Mario Run one-handed, and the game looks pretty spiffy from what we’ve seen so far. While pretty much everyone is hyped for the game, two lesser known titles in the Nintendo universe saw themselves pushed to the back burner.

The company said last May that it planned to launch five mobile games by 2017.
