“The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers”, he added. NES Classic Edition connects to HD televisions and monitors using a supplied HDMI cable.

The NES Classic Edition is a mini replica of the company’s first console, which was released in the United States in 1985 and became an instant hit.

Based on the NES that was first released in Europe in 1986, the Classic Mini is a shrunken down version of the original console that can be connected to modern TVs that support high definition video (HD).

The game will also come with an AC adapter and an NES Classic Controller patterned after the original controller. It comes pre-loaded with 30 games out of the box, but you can’t use carts and there has been no word about expansion. Second controllers will be sold for $9.99. If you have a Wii or a WiiU, you can take advantage of the Virtual Console, but that’s a pricey proposition when you factor into the cost of the console and then the individual games. Thankfully, that isn’t the case as the console will have classics like Castlevania, Castlevania II, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon II, Excitebike, Final Fantasy, Kid Icarus, Punch Out, Legend of Zelda and the Legend of Zelda 2. Featuring Mr. Dream, StarTropics, SUPER C, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, TECMO BOWL, The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
