Nissan GT-R – NY 2016
From the front we’ve got a bigger “V-motion” grille flowing into a new bonnet, revised bumpers with rather Lexus-ish vertical intakes, updated front splitter and “finishers” beneath the headlights. Nissan says these changes are created to make the GT-R more aerodynamically efficient, and help to keep the vehicle stable at high speeds.

Inside the cabin, Nissan has given one of its best-loved motors a thorough makeover.
The car’s reworked dashboard is wrapped with a seamless piece of hand-stitched Nappa leather.
Nissan has fitted a new steering wheel and relocated the paddle shifters from the column to the wheel itself, taking care to make sure the new paddles still feel and sound right.
The GT-R retains its 3.8L twin-turbo V-6 engine but now churns out 565 hp at 6,800 rpm and 467 lb.-ft. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
“We have continued to push its performance boundaries to the outer limits”, says Hiroshi Tamura, Chief Product Specialist of the GT-R.
Now, for the 2017 model year, Nissan is giving its flagship supercar a facelift and, why the hell not, a boost in power.
Nissan has said that pre-orders will open in Europe from April 2016 and the first deliveries are scheduled for autumn. Will the new Nissan GT-R have a light-up logo? Part of getting passengers more comfortable means blocking more road noise with padding, active noise cancellation and acoustic glass-and that’s led Nissan to also add the Active Sound Enhancement (aka, fake engine noise through the speakers).
Since then, the GT-R has impressed many an auto critic including your humble servant every time I sat in the cockpit of this massive and wickedly fast vehicle.
“As the icon of Nissan’s driving performance, the GT-R continues to evolve”, Nissan global design center executive design director Mamoru Aoki said in a statement.
Leading up to the reveal, Nissan has teased us with an image of the GT-R’s back end. The 2016 GT-R starts at $103,365, including destination. The GT-R’s signature circular taillights remain, and it rides on new 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels.
What do you think of the updated GT-R? A new Blaze Metallic orange color is also added to the color palette.

But at the same time, the new GT-R will be quieter around town, with smoother-shifting gears as it circles the shopping mall or commutes to work. The NissanConnect mobile app suite will also be available in “select markets”, along with a smartphone app that allows remote control of things like door locks and the auto alarm.
