Nissan recalls 120K vehicles; fluid leaks can cause fires
Nissan Motor Co is recalling about 134,000 late-model cars, mainly in the United States and Canada, because a fluid leak in the braking system could lead to a fire, the company and US regulators said on Friday. However, most of the minivans were either still being shipped or still at dealerships around the USA and only roughly 600 had been delivered to customers, according to Reuters.

No one has been injured due to the potential defect but several incidents were reported to Nissan of “thermal damage” to vehicles that could include some fires, a Nissan spokesman said.
Nissan says seals on antilock brake pumps can leak fluid onto a circuit board. They should also park their cars away from other vehicles or structures.
Nissan issued a recall Wednesday for more than 9,000 Serena minivans, which had just been released and shipped to market on August 24.
Drivers who have ABS warning lamps that remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds should stop driving immediately and call Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-647-7261 (option 1) for a free towing of their vehicle to a Nissan dealer.
The company said in a statement that it will send owners a letter this month notifying them of what to do if the antilock brake light comes on. Dealers should replace the antilock brake pumps at no cost.
The company said the problem has been corrected in vehicles since it was discovered.
