Nissan Recalls 134000 Vehicles Due to Leaking Brake-Fluid Fire Risk

Nissan’s recall covers certain 2015 to 2017 Murano SUVs and 2016 to 2017 Maxima Sedans that are equipped with intelligent cruise control as well as 2015 and 2016 Murano hybrids. Also included are some 2015 and 2016 Murano hybrids. If this happens, the vehicle should be parked outside and not driven. Brake fluid leaks can result in short-circuits and fire risk, they said. If fluid leaks, the antilock brake warning light could stay on for more than 10 seconds after the vehicles are started. The automaker says if this occurs, the vehicle should be parked outdoors and away from anything flammable.
Nissan says it found out about the problem after getting a report of a fire in a 2016 Maxima on June 7. The company identified several more fires during its investigation of the problem, which then prompted the recall, the AP noted.
Nissan issued a recall Wednesday for more than 9,000 Serena minivans, which had just been released and shipped to market on August 24.
Nissan plans to notify owners of the affected cars and SUVs.

Nissan doesn’t know when the recall will begin, but dealers will eventually replace the anti-lock brake system actuators if the dealers deem it necessary.
