Nitish Kumar is the head the first JD (U)-RJD-Congress coalition that will rule Bihar. From the state BJP camp, former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and former minister Nand Kishore Yadav also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
On Friday, Nitish Kumar sworn-in as the new Bihar Chief Minister for one more time. RJD strongman Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tej Prathap Yadav and Tejasvi Yadav also took oath as cabinet ministers. He also extended congratulations to the people of Bihar for reposing faith on the grand alliance under the banner of Mahagat Bandhan.
Several eminent persons including Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a number of Congress Chief Ministers were present at the event.
Other political veterans expected to join in include CPI-M general secreatry Sitaram Yechury, CPI’s D. Raja, Indian National Lok Dal’s Abhay Chautala, DMK’s M.K. Stalin and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah.
Eager to prove people wrong for their apprehension about the possible return of the days of kidnapping, murder, and rape that defined much of the ’90s, the Chief Minister warned the law enforcement officials of dire consequences if they allowed the criminals to take over the state.
Among the “grand alliance” partners, the RJD became the single largest party in the assembly with 80 seats, while the JD(U) bagged 71 and the Congress got 27. Prominent Muslim face of RJD Abdul Bari Siddiqui, who won from Alinagar seat in Darbhanga, took oath as a minister.
From Congress party – Ashok Choudhary, Madan Mohan Jha, Abdul Jalil Mastan, Awdesh Kumar Singh. According to this formula, the RJD’s share is 16, the JD(U)’s 14 and the Congress is 5, besides the CM.
