Nixon making budget cuts after lawmakers enact tax breaks

The legislation will allow most people to carry concealed guns without needing a permit. Criminals, they said, carry guns regardless of whether they have permits or not, the Columbus Missourian reported.

The largest cost associated with the new tax breaks comes from a measure allowing cattle ranchers and other agricultural producers to deduct federal disaster aid payments from their state income taxes.

In the House, Alferman’s bill, HB1631, which would have required photo ID to be shown in order to vote in a public election, was vetoed by Nixon on July 7. The NRA says 30 states have laws or court precedents stating people have no duty to retreat from a threat anywhere they are lawfully present. The measure also would expand legal protections for those who use deadly force to defend themselves.

According to documents provided by the Missouri Senate, a move to the previous question has been used three times during the veto session in Missouri history.

A newly enacted law will exempt Missouri livestock owners from having to pay for damage caused by wandering cattle and horses unless they were negligent.

Legislation to allow big trucks to drive closer together using new technology has died in Missouri.

Regardless of the new law, individuals in Missouri who are legally able to own a gun are not required to obtain any licensing or training to carry firearms openly. “A special thanks is owed to the leadership teams in the Senate and the House of Representatives for championing (SB 656) under heavy pressure from the extreme left-wing grassroots activists and their donors”.

The legislation also would have allowed transportation vehicles to flash red and blue lights on highways. “Despite the best efforts of Michael Bloomberg and out-of-state gun control groups to defeat the override vote, their agenda was rejected”.

The House voted 115-41 Wednesday to override the photo ID veto.

The measure, described by supporters as “constitutional carry”, would allow people to carry hidden guns anywhere they can now carry weapons openly, effective January 1.

Meanwhile, about 150 people rallied with the Missouri chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

Most adults can now carry concealed weapons without a permit in Missouri, after a supermajority of Republicans in the legislature passed the bill into law Wednesday. SB 656 also upends traditional Missouri self-defense law and allows people to shoot to kill in public places, even when they can clearly and safely walk away from the danger.

And in doing so, they made our state the first new Stand Your Ground state since the death of Trayvon Martin.

“I can not support a system that would ignore a determination but the chief law enforcement officer of a county that an individual is a danger to the community and should not be authorized to carry a concealed firearm”, Mr. Nixon wrote. One bill would loosen the state’s gun laws, while the other would provide the system with which Missouri would implement voter photo identification.
