NJ police search apartment after explosives found

Sunday night’s explosion was the third in a string of similar bombings across the tri-state NY area.

The pipe bombs were similar to the one that detonated in Seaside Park, New Jersey, over the weekend before a Marine race.

But before they walked away, they removed a pressure cooker that had been concealed inside it, New York Police Department Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.

“He’d always talk about his cars”. “He was so friendly he’d give us free chicken here and there, just because we shopped there so much”.

William Sweeney Jr., the FBI’s assistant director in NY, said there were no indications Rahami was on law enforcement’s radar at the time of the bombings.

Officials said the two incidents did not appear to be connected, but they weren’t ruling anything out.

An explosion in Manhattan on Saturday injured 29 people.

The official says investigators recovered his fingerprints from the scene.

The New York police said on Monday they are looking for 28-year-old Afghan national Ahmad Khan Rahami for the Chelsea bombing.

The armed agents, including some from the ATF and Federal Bureau of Investigation, swarmed “First American Fried Chicken” on Elmora Avenue just before 6 a.m.

“I want New Yorkers to be confident when they go back to work on Monday that NY is up and running and we’re doing everything that we need to do”, he said.

“He was more quiet and more mature”, Jones said. “I don’t know the technological aspect of that”.

Ryan McCann, of Elizabeth, said that he often ate at the restaurant and recently began seeing the younger Rahami working there more.

Rahami was accused of stabbing a relative in 2014, but a grand jury declined to proceed with criminal charges, court records show.

The Morris & Essex line is reporting delays, “due to earlier police activity in Elizabeth” according to the Travel Alert on the New Jersey Transit website.

Sires said his office wrote a letter to the US embassy in Pakistan to check on the status of the case and the woman received a visa. “This search warrant obviously has led to the police from the previous investigation in Chelsea”, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said. No one has been charged with any crime and the investigation is ongoing, the statement said.

In the video, the man leaves the duffel bag where police later found the unexploded pressure cooker.

“We don’t go into detail on what we are doing, but people may notice some heightened security”, said Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy. Two officers were shot, one in the hand and the other in a bullet-proof vest, he said.

As a police vehicle pulled up at the traffic light in front of the shop, the man fired about six shots at the cruiser, then continued down the street with police following him, Bilinskas said.
