Nelson says there are no cameras at the location so investigators are not sure how the auto got on the tracks. It entered the tracks at the First Avenue crossing and then was driven south along the tracks towards the Emerson Station until crashing into the train, also traveling southbound.

The incident happened about 1/4 mile west of the Emerson station, she said.

The crash concerned Practice 1602 on the Pascack Valley line, which practice left Spring Valley, N.Y., about 5:10 a.m. and had about 110 passengers on board, Nelson stated.

All service on the Pascack Valley Line has been stopped after a crash involving a train and a auto.

The Emerson police and hearth departments are on the scene, in addition to Westwood and NJ Transit police.
