NKorea missile tests ‘deeply troubling — United Nations chief
Conflict between North Korea and South Korea dates back to 1950, after Korea was liberated from Japan and the cold war split the nation between Russian supported North Korea and United States supported South Korea.

State-run media outlets left little doubt that Tuesday’s launches were aimed at South Korea, who upset the North this month when announcing plans to deploy a powerful American missile defense system known as THAAD.
But the U.S. mission said it had not called for consultations at the Security Council on North Korea.
Han, meanwhile, commented on the effectiveness of the THAAD system and the level of protection it can offer the country by saying that having more layers of protection is always preferable to having fewer.
North Korea’s military had warned it would take “physical counteraction” from the moment the system’s location of the deployment has been confirmed. The site is expected to become active in 2018.
What is North Korea up to? Yonhap news agency reported.
“The government remains committed to not joining the MD shield, and this stance has not changed since the Kim Dae-jung administration”, the minister pointed out.
Three missiles were launched on Tuesday by North Korea, landing into the sea. It is created to intercept incoming missiles.
Choi Kang, a researcher at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said, “If the THAAD battery is useless against North Korea’s missile threat, the North would have no reason to react so sensitively”.
Now it’s understood that this latest potential espionage activity has resulted in a scrambling by the South Korean intelligence service to discover why it has resorted to an old-fashioned “number stations” method, rather than through online channels. China, in particular, is Seoul’s No. 1 trading partner, and a key player in Seoul’s drive to get North Korea to give up its nuclear ambitions.
The resolution prohibits North Korea’s use of ballistic missile technology.
North Korea said Wednesday that leader Kim Jong Un has recently supervised ballistic missile tests on the assumption of making pre-emptive strikes against South Korea.
He also reiterated that THAAD will only be used for South Korea’s defense against North Korea and said Seoul will not share any information with the USA global missile defense system. Seoul officials said all three missiles landed in the waters off the North’s east coast.
North Korea has fired both types of missiles numerous times in recent years, although it is barred by United Nations sanctions from any test of nuclear or ballistic missile technology.

THAAD is effective in intercepting missiles at an altitude of 40 to 150 km, while Patriots are created to intercept missiles 10 to 40 km above the surface.
