It was only going to get worse.

A 37-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Cam Pedersen as time expired gave North Dakota State a stunning 23-21 victory over No. 13 Iowa.

When the Bison needed some tough yards in the fourth quarter, they went to Frazier. “We knew if we could get to that fourth quarter that we felt we would have a chance to win”.

“We just didn’t execute the way we should have”, Beathard said.

The Bison took the fight right at the Hawkeyes.

Miami (3-0) came in having scored a school-record 108 points in its first two games in wins over Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic. Sitting at 2-1, out of the AP poll and something akin to the laughingstock of college football after losing to a Football Championship Subdivision school, it’s never been more important than now for the Hawkeyes to re-embrace the mentality of one game at a time.

Losing a regular-season game for the first time in 15 starts at Iowa, Beathard returned to finish 11-of-22 passing for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

“There may be 10,000 of their fans here, but there will be 60,000 of ours who will hopefully drown out their noise”, Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard said.

Two years ago, we wrote a post about North Dakota State.

IOWA City, Iowa-Kinnick Stadium is aptly crowned a historic structure, with the bricks on its exterior dating back to the days when football players played in leather helmets.

“He’s doing well”, Ferentz said about Reiff on August 30.

King spoke with Scout.com in an exclusive interview on Wednesday and explained that they have been preparing for the Bison just like they would a big conference team. I think anybody that was in the stadium today realized that’s a good football team.

ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE (2-0): The Bison, who are 8-3 in the last 11 games against FBS foes, must be much sharper on defense after giving up 819 yards in the first two contests. The huge holes that Iowa’s backs had to run through in its first two games were largely non-existent.Iowa began the second half with a 62-yard run by LeShun Daniels Jr. that put it at NDSU’s 3 up 14-7. Last season Iowa dominated opponents rushing the ball and controlling games.

Cal Poly (1-1) at No. 9 South Dakota State (1-1), 7 p.m.

Clemson led 45-0 at the half against the FCS Bulldogs (0-3), and the third- and fourth quarters were 12 minutes each instead of the usual 15 minutes. “We came here to win and if we didn’t make it, I thought we could stop them”. “We left a lot of plays out there and just didn’t play very well”. “That’s the frustrating thing”. One team is coming off a pair of easy wins and looks to improve upon its current national ranking, as the other team tries to pull off what would be a massive upset victory on the road. Stick scrambled to buy time and his throw to the end zone was incomplete.

That’s exactly how it played out.

Daniels was tossed for a two-yard loss on first down, picked one of those back on the next play, and then Beathard was buried on a nine-yard sack by safety Robbie Grimsley, seconds after Grimsley showed blitz and Beathard pointed that out.

North Dakota State (3-0) started at its own 34, but didn’t stay there for long as Stick sprinted for 29 yards before connecting with RJ Urzendowski for a 10-yard gain to the Iowa 27-yard line.

It turns out the power back in the Iowa backfield has a little bit of quickness in his game.
