No. 15 Houston knocks off No. 3 Sooners

It’s pretty great to be a Houston fan right now. All 12 teams were in action this past weekend – let’s review the results in approximate order of importance.

“I just wasn’t playing the way I should and the way that’s up to my standard”, Rosen said.

On the injuries from Saturday’s game…

For Houston (1-0), it’s arguably the biggest win in school history.

The Cougars win in the Peach bowl past year, made this game count even more.

If there had been non-believers in the team that Herman and his staff has been building – judging by the polls leading up to the game there were plenty off them – this game might have cemented the fact that the Cougars are not one-hit wonders and they are to be taken very seriously.

The mothership has it right. Houston created this monster, and they’re hungry. In the meantime, it’s time to wait for Houston Twitter to completely ruin everyone’s love for Houston by being obnoxious jerks. “They made some big plays overall”.

The Cougars took a 19-17 lead into halftime and were looking to start off the second half in a big way with the football.

Meanwhile, P.J. Philip Walker had an absolutely disgusting game for Temple. He only threw five interceptions.

On evaluating Parrish Cobb playing his first game…

So it sounded less realistic – in playoff terms – when USC Coach Clay Helton insisted “one game does not make a season”.

And to top off a truly terrible night for the cherry and white, news came out right before the game that Temple had been crossed off the Big XII’s expansion candidate list. Oof.

“Yes. I think at times Baker held on, instead of taking what was open and what was there on his first read, he was waiting for something different, something that takes a little bit longer to progress, and that’s not how the offense operates”.

Sure Oklahoma still gained 393 yards of total offense and Mayfield passed for 323 yards and two touchdown passes of his own, but he’s going to remember the Cougar defense in the morning after running away from constant pressure and watching his offense turn the ball over twice.

If the Sooners score a touchdown on that drive?

With each victory, this conversation will get more serious, and Houston likely still has to go undefeated to have a true chance at the top four.

The Huskies tried really hard to blow this game.

Oklahoma’s defense had a rough first half to say the least. But however it happened, they left no doubt they belong.

But Knight’s pass was knocked down in the end zone to force overtime. Coach Mike Norvell won his inaugural game with the Tigers. Seven of his completions and 125 of those yards went to Steven Dunbar. Running back Keith Ford had a touchdown and 65 of A&M’s 203 yards rushing in his first game since setting out a year following his transfer from Oklahoma. The Midshipmen ran for 427 yards on Fordham, averaging over eight yards per carry.

Washington: 10.0 yards per pass. Rutgers: 4.2 yards per pass. “I came here with the rest of the brigade”. When Smith went down, though, the call went out for Perry.

The Sooners did in the second half. That’s the kind of chaos “upsets” like this create, and that’s a question Houston can answer on the field with its play. This game was absolutely appalling. I’ll have to watch the film to see. “We had guys in certain spots that would have been easier throws and would have helped us”.

“He played well, had a ton of tackles, I think we had 11 tackles for loss, he didn’t have all of them but he had several, covered well”. Early in the third quarter, Bob Stoops elected to try and take a 53-yard field goal. Zay Scott had 10 catches for 180 yards. Barry J. Sanders compiled 76 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown. Only 12 second-half rushing attempts were not.

The last time SMU visited Denton, North Texas retired June Jones with a humiliating 43-6 beatdown. In all due respect in 2005, we also lost about 18 starters from the year before. Xavier Jones ran for 115 yards and a touchdown, and SMU’s defense intercepted Alec Morris three times.

Houston Cougars quarterback Greg Ward Jr. is of similar build to Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett. Ward Jr. tallied 321 yards passing and two touchdowns against the Sooners
