No. 18 LSU visits a struggling Auburn team desperate for win
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

White played every snap behind center Saturday night and Auburn limited the negative plays against an aggressive LSU defense to have only four three-and-outs. The last of those was Carlson’s 50th in his career, and gave Auburn a 9-7 lead with 5:14 left in the second quarter. LSU managed to get an improbable fourth-down conversion with one second left on the clock, which stopped to move the chains.
LSU quarterback Danny Etling, the kid out of nowhere as in 1-11 Purdue in 2013, looked like San Francisco’s Joe Montana on January 10, 1982, in the NFC Championship Game as he rolled right and found his Dwight Clark in the end zone.
Vanderbilt 31, Western Kentucky 30 • Vanderbilt’s defense turned away a 2-point conversion play at the end of the first overtime as the Commodores escaped with a victory at Western Kentucky. However, after review, the officials determined that the ball was snapped after the game clock had expired, sealing the Auburn victory. Auburn had won – by the skin of its teeth, but a win nonetheless.
Auburn: Auburn will take a break from its SEC schedule when it tries for its 10th straight win over Louisiana-Monroe. The Tigers were in the other two, but lost.
Michigan State (2-1, 0-1) was down 13-6 early in the third and had the ball in Wisconsin territory when LJ Scott’s fumble bounced to Musso in the secondary. The Tigers have yet to score more than 23 points in any of their three games against FBS opponents this season, and they have been especially limited in the passing game.
No. 21 LSU (2-1, 1-0) at Auburn (1-2, 0-1), 6 p.m. (ESPN): The Hot Seat Bowl. “There were a lot of ups and downs”.
“We just couldn’t put it in the end zone”, adds fan Brannon McKim.
For a moment, LSU thought it won.
“Their skill sets and their explosiveness, their length and their talent that’s what makes them unique”, Malzahn said. Auburn is only going to have a chance at this one if LSU screws up and gives it to them, so all they need to do is execute the gameplan and not take any over the top risks.
NO. 20 NEBRASKA 24, NORTHWESTERN 13- Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw for 246 yards and ran for a career-high 132 to lead Nebraska past Northwestern in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Auburn went up 18-13 with just under 3 minutes to go in the game.
Daniel Carlson kicked six field goals on six attempts to account for Auburn’s scoring. His ideal kicking game included a 51-yarder to start the scoring for the home team, and his flawless effort tied a school record. The win, however ugly and insane at the end, gets Auburn back to.500 and back in the win column in the SEC.
“He’s a huge weapon. That’s all I’ve got to say”. Leonard Fournette is arguably the best running back in the country, and Danny Etling seems to have settled the conversation about who should start at quarterback. The Tigers had another disappointing night offensively, finishing with just 118 yards through the air. The third time was a charm against a nationally-ranked team.
We’ve all seen the ending now.

Who knows? Maybe this is the spark the team needed in order to start putting things together.
