No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska, No. 6 Simona Halep lose at French Open
Radwanska vs. Pironkova originally began Sunday, and Radwanska was just three games from victory at 3-0 in the second set when play was suspended because of rain.

Their views harkened memories of the 2011 U.S. Open, when Nadal and Andy Murray criticized officials for forcing them to play on wet hard-courts.
Play had already been halted on Lenglen, but these two played on through increasing rain just long enough for Djokovic to fail to convert a break back point. I mean, it’s not a 10,000 tournament (the lowest level of professional tennis). He would also join Andre Agassi in third place for the total number of Grand Slam quarter-finals, 36 of them.
Continuing showers Tuesday pushed back the start of play, but the rain became lighter, the tarps came off and there was action all around the grounds. “I think it’s too hard to play tennis in these conditions”.
“The second set – we played pretty much in the rain”. Radwanska told reporters. “I don’t think they really care what we think. I think they care about other things”, Radwanska added, saying her racket-wielding right hand gave her problems because she had surgery on it years ago.
Monday the tournament suffered its first washout in 16 years, with play being cancelled by 1:40 p.m.
The rain was not as heavy on Tuesday, but was persistent. Rain, again rain, even more rain.
Radwanska looked like she was cruising at one stage after leading 6-2 3-0, but lost 10 consecutive games after the match resumed.
“I have no words”, Halep said after her loss. “It was impossible to play, in my opinion”.
PARIS (AP) – With more bad weather expected Tuesday, French Open organizers are trying to get as many matches as possible out of the way before the rain.
‘No one cares about the players in my opinion. “I don’t care that I lost the match today, but I was close to (getting) injured”. “It doesn’t all just go away”. Because the court was not good.
If Djokovic and Bautista Agut were able to complete their match, it was scheduled to be followed in the main stadium by defending champion Serena Williams against 18th-seeded Elina Svitolina in their delayed fourth-round match. I felt some pain in my back, in my achilles. I can not play in that conditions. “When I went to ask to play on Court 1 – doesn’t matter which court, just to play, because we know that it’s going to rain and it’s going to be late, but they took the decisions to put doubles and then us”. It’s not their fault. “I didn’t feel safe on the court”.
Organisers will fully refund fans that came on Monday, but, because two hours of play – nearly exactly – was possible on Tuesday, no refunds can be claimed.
Those matches were also interrupted yet again Tuesday.
But Halep admitted Tuesday that she’s not that kind of person.

The fourth-round match between top-ranked men’s player Novak Djokovic and 14th-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain was delayed for two hours after Agut won the first set. After taking a 6-5 lead, Halep held serve to force a tiebreaker but Stosur took all seven points to claim the first set.
