The Temple Owls and Butler Bulldogs play Friday afternoon at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.

The Texas Tech Sports Network will carry the radio broadcast live on its flagship stations 93.7 FM, 104.3 FM and 950 AM in Lubbock with Brian Hanni and Chris Level on the call.

Nate Mason scored a career-high 20 points to lead Minnesota (2-1). It marks the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools.

“We need to do a better job”, Missouri State coach Paul Lusk said on his postgame radio show.

“This was probably a once in-a-lifetime type of game”. So that makes it a little hard to get a good gauge on what kind of a team we are facing. The Hurricanes made 28 of 38 free throws. Trevor Mbakwe earned the tournament’s MVP. Three of his four victories over the Utes have come in the NCAA Tournament.

About Texas Tech The Red Raiders will look to build on their 77-73 win over High Point.

They shot just 34 percent, including a 2-for-15 showing behind the arc, and couldn’t keep up once Butler got rolling.

Tubby Smith’s squad, usually known for their fundamentals, fell short in one major category: free throws.

The 22nd-ranked Bulldogs (2-0) took control early in the first half.

The other teams slated to play in the 2016 event are Arizona State, Davidson, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Tulane and Xavier. A 3-pointer by Lewis started the rally that pushed BU ahead 18-8 with 12 minutes left in the half, and later it was a trey by Jackson Davis that made it a 20-point game with four to go in the opening stanza.

Mississippi State: Prized freshman Malik Newman finished with 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting in 27 minutes. Toddrick Gotcher has started Tech’s last nine games dating back to last season and scored all seven of his points from the free throw line in the season opener.

Similar to the loss to Southern, Mississippi State was in major foul trouble. Jaylen Bond had 19 points and eight rebounds while Devin Coleman had 15 points and five rebounds. If you take away Joey King’s 7/13 shooting from behind the three-point line, the rest of the team is shooting nearly 19%!

Poeltl and Kuzma work the interior for the Utes. The Bulldogs had 14 assists and 13 turnovers, while the Hurricanes had 20 assists and 11 turnovers. In fact, they’ve fared rather poorly, losing all three games in their last two tries and only making it as far as the finals twice.
