No. 23 Rebels find their rhythm, beat No. 12 Georgia 45-14
MS quarterback Chad Kelly (10) manages to make a pass as he is hit by Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith (3) in the first half of their NCAA college football game, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, in Oxford, Miss. Kelly took advantage on one play when Carter couldn’t wrap up Kelly, who flung the ball downfield for a 55-yard touchdown to DaMarkus Lodge to beat Juwuan Briscoe in the end zone.

Chubb left the game in the second quarter and was looked at by trainers on the bench on the sideline with under four minutes to go in the first half.
It was pretty much that easy for the Rebels all afternoon.
Kelly also led Ole Miss in rushing with four carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. One of the weekend’s marquee matchups saw the Ole Miss Rebels bounce back in a big way, trouncing the Georgia Bulldogs to the tune of 45-14.
“It’s not all on them”, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of his players. To make matters worse, star running back Nick Chubb injured an ankle in the second quarter and didn’t return.
It was an impressive win for the Rebels, who have played some of their worst football this season after gaining big leads. No. 21 Ole Miss (2-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) didn’t play conservatively as it did last week in a loss to Alabama.
“I couldn’t be more pleased”, offensive coordinator Dan Werner said of the receiving group’s play.
Eurgene Brazley scored on a 5-yard touchdown off a shovel pass from Jason Pellerin and and Kelly scored on a 41-yard touchdown run off the read option.
“I though the kids competed but once we got behind we didn’t do a good job trying to get back in it and that’s the most important thing”, Smart said. Brian Herrien was their leading rusher with 78 yards on 11 carries for two touchdowns.
Of course, Georgia freshman quarterback Jacob Eason had a terrible performance, completing just 16-of-36 passes for 137 yards (3.6 yards per attempt) and a pick.
“He ran the ball well”, Smart said. “The fact that those guys just come in and make plays for us”. “We didn’t respond the right way, but we will move forward, this team will come back and fight and I promise you they’ll grow up and give an A-effort this week”. On the ground, Nick Chubb rushed for 63 yards in 19 attempts while Sony Michel had 37 yards in 9 attempts.
“They came out and dominated from the start of the game”, Smart said, via the Bulldogs’ team website.
Kelly’s mistake-free performance against Georgia is a good sign for the Rebels.
Against Georgia, there were no such problems. The Rebels defense was able to sack him three times and Smart says that the freshman has to be better at the little things.
“It was frustrating. This was the opportunity we were looking for”.

The Ole Miss Rebels suffered from 48-43 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in week 3. Ole Miss’ record is deceiving given the teams it’s played, and its talent was on full display. The Georgia Bulldogs were seeking to cement their top 15 ranking and position atop the race for the SEC East title. He took off on a 41-yard touchdown run that put Ole Miss up 45-0.
