No. 5 Michigan routs Central Florida 51-14, another easy win

On Saturday during Michigan’s game against UCF, it was even harder to tear your eyes from the screen as the coach put his finger up his nostril and then in between his teeth.

Central Florida’s no-huddle offence vs. Michigan’s defence.

“This is a process”, said UCF head coach Scott Frost after the game.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Wilton Speight faced a defense determined to stop the run.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — No. 4 MI is nearly averaging a point per minute through two games, spreading the ball around to an array of options through the air and on the ground. They’re favored to beat Central Florida (1-0) by more than five touchdowns Saturday at the Big House.

“When the quarterback throws for four touchdowns and over 300 yards, that’s a great performance”. “We knew we were going to run play action”.

The 63-3 win in Week 1 over Hawaii was convincing-and not just in hindsight.

“We’re hungry”, Butt said. “On 50-50 balls, we’re thinking it’s more in our favor, 70-30 or 60-40”.

“There’s probably no better feeling than to start a week that way”, he said.

In fact, new MI defensive coordinator Don Brown made sure his defense got very real with UCF – particularly in the first half. Special teams failures plagued the Knights throughout and poor quarterback play ensured there would be no miracles for UCF. It’s the first multi-touchdown game of his career.

MI (2-0) has a long way to be that dominant under second-year coach Jim Harbaugh and perhaps that’s why he pumped the brakes a bit Monday. Tre’Quan Smith, the Knights’ best wide receiver, dropped a deep ball and failed to catch a pass. Knight quarterbacks were sacked 3 times and hurried 7 other times, suggesting this offensive line still has a lot of work to do before UCFast hits full throttle.

Chris Evans proved to be a nice commodity at the tailback position in the opener, posting 112 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns.

UCF: QB Justin Holman.

“Many players played and played well which is good for morale”, MI head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters.

“Since I’ve been here I’ve just been looking forward to playing side by side with him”, Shaquill said.

So it’s a Frost-y score for UCF and another bludgeoning win for the Wolverines. Michigan’s playcallers stuck to the run while racking up 306 yards on the ground against the Warriors a week ago.

“It’s hard to say when the score is what it is, but we came in here and outhit those guys today”, Frost said after the game. “That’s really what I wanted to see”.

UCF ran a record 91 plays in the first game of season against S.C. State, and they are going into Ann Arbor with a similar game plan.

UCF: The Knights host Maryland, the second Big Ten school to play at UCF and the first since Purdue in 1999.
