A blast went off in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan on Saturday night, injuring 29 people.

Earlier Sunday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the bombing didn’t appear to have any link to global terrorism. “The officers immediately called for additional officers and ambulances”, said James O’neill, chief of New York Police Department.

The explosion happened at 135 W. 23rd Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues in Chelsea around 8:30 p.m. Most of the injuries were minor.

At a news conference, the mayor said there was no specific and credible threat against NY by any terror organization.

Just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in NY and nobody knows exactly what’s going on, but, boy we are really in a time.

Trump made his comments shortly after getting off a plane at a rally held in a hanger in Colorado Springs.

Both presidential nominees Republican candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton reacted to the blast.

Police combing the scene around the explosion found a pressure cooker connected to a cell phone with wires attached, Reuters reported, citing United States network CNN. Police also were investigating a second suspicious site nearby early Sunday. There was also a second site being investigated just four blocks away at West 27th St. between 6th and 7th avenues.

“Tonight, New York City experienced a very bad incident”, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said during a press conference.

He said authorities did not know of a connection between the NY explosion and the bomb that exploded without hurting anyone earlier Saturday in New Jersey. There were no injuries in that incident.

Around 29 people were injured in the blast.

CNN reported that law enforcement sources believed an improvised explosive device caused the blast.

Right now, it appears that the explosion took place outside on the street.

Mayor Bill de Blasio confirmed that it was an intentional act and one person was in a critical condition.

The explosion blew out lower windows on the Associated Blind Housing facility. 24 of these people have been transported to area hospitals with various degerees of scrapes, abrasions, from glass, from metal.

The NYPD’s counterterrorism department tweeted out a photo that appears to show a mangled dumpster, calling it an “update” on the 23rd Street explosion.

Chelsea is a fashionable area of the city and known for its bars, restaurants and nightlife.
