No evidence of terror connection; gunman was obsessed with mass shootings

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Friday terrorist attack at a shopping center in Munich of Germany and urged an global response to terrorism, official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.
Born and raised in the German city, the 18-year-old used an unlicensed 9mm pistol and had 300 rounds of ammunition.
The gunman, a Munich resident who had had no previous contact with police, was found dead near the mall.
The shooter demanded the onlooker stop filming, but instead the foul-mouthed man hurled more insults at the killer.
German president Joachim Gauck said he was “horrified by the murderous attack”.
The Munich prosecutor also said the suspect – whose name has been withheld for the time being – had suffered depression and reportedly undergone psychiatric treatment.

His motives are still unclear. State premier Horst Seehofer said he was “deeply shocked” at the mass shootings, describing the killings as a “brutal and inhuman act” that filled everyone “with sadness and horror”.

The attack came just four days after a teenage Afghan asylum seeker stabbed and injured five people on a train in Bavaria before being shot dead by police.
